I received a telephone conversation on Friday from a lady who works in a local charity shop to tell me she had a new camera display. She knows I collect and use old lenses (she sold me my vintage Pentax primes). I went to her shop after work on Friday and bought a couple of old cameras from her !!!
My title for this image is "Beyond It's best", the image being shot with a vintage Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50 mm f/2.8, which cannot be described as "beyond it;s best"
The lens is from 1962/63 and as can be seen in the image above , it works well. The focus ring is a little stiff (a common issue apparently)
The flower is a home grown pot Hyacinth drooping and fading !
You made a fabulous bargain with this lens. Looks like it is in perfect condition and your focusing is so wonderful. I would get mixed up choosing which lens is most appropriate for each situation.
Give it 24 hours and you can probably take this again with snow on it! I love your new/old lens experiments. Always so interesting to read what you are doing.
You're certainly having a lot of fun and getting some great results with your vintage lenses. I guess things like focusing rings are like us when we get old - the moving parts get a bit worn and stiff! :)
