Arnold and District Camera Club had a summer night trip to Nottingham University Jubilee. The campus is relatively new and has some amazing buildings, which are all so photogenic. I will tell you about the campus when I post some of the pics later in the week.
I was walking around the campus with Alan (you may remember him as I posted a great pic of him shot with my vintage Industar N61 lens a few weeks ago).
As we were walking around the campus I spotted 3 students who were having a football “kick around” and had just got the ball stuck up a tree. I suggested to Alan we offer his tripod to them to push the ball out of the tree. So I shouted over to them “Excuse me do you want to use Alan’s tripod to get the ball”
Karan came running across to greet us and leapt across a man made water border separating the path from the grass. He took the long way back to the tree. By the time we followed him across the grass area he’d retrieved the said ball.
He gave us back the tripod and noticed my Sony A6000 (It always seems to get admiring glances and comments). We had a nice chat about Sony’s and sensor size. I then introduced him to the concept of 100 Strangers and he said yes straight away. I used some trees as a background (not the “ball tree”) and took several shots. Karan seemed impressed with the photos.
Karan is from Holland and is studying a “Masters” degree in Business . Alan asked him what his job prospects were. Karan told us he was applying for jobs back home in Holland but wasn’t too sure about whether or not he would be successful in his search. I changed the subject to football and asked him which club he supported. Karam proudly replied Feyenoord Rotterdam.
Although Karan admired my Sony, I shot this on my Canon 60D and Canon 50mm f1.8 prime lens. My Sony had a wide angle lens on ! I don;t tend to use my Canon 60D 50mm combo for stranger pics, but given the quality of this photo , I sort of forgot what a great little lens the Canon 50mm is.
Thanks for being stranger 173 Karan, I wish you well with your career once you graduate.

A wonderful sharp B/W portrait . Great focus making him stand out so well against the bokeh background ! A handsome and well presented young man !! fav
very natural with lovely clear features. And you picked your background well. SO good to read your stories of interaction intermingled with the technical details.
