Have been to RAF Donna Nook today, on the North Lincolnshire coast.
The grey seal colony is in residence and the beach is awash with the huge adults and the small white offspring.
This little chap could have only have been born a few hours (the umbillical cord was visible on its stomach and the placenta very close to him and his mother). He'd just finished feeding and had rolled away from his mum; looks to me like he's smiling a smile of contentment of both a full tummy and at being outside in the world; I wish him a long life. (looks pretty good on black if you have the inclination)
so cute. We are going to Donna Nook next Thursday. Was it crowded there today? Do you know if dogs are allowed in the car in the car park? I know that they are not allowed near the seals.
@shepherdmanswife Absolutely packed, but everyone was very courteous. We were in the overflow car park (which is pretty large). Dogs were evident in the car park, and left in cars, but, yes, they're not allowed on the shoreline as you said.
Brilliant shot, great detail and yes, on black really brings it alive. I remember going there years ago when we lived up that way, pretty windswept I imagine yesterday!
@photobird Thank you. It was freezing. Fingers were numb after half an hour, but worth it.
