Sizewell nuclear power station by quietpurplehaze

Sizewell nuclear power station

In my Suffolk childhood Sizewell was a place for a day out on a Sunday: make a picnic, take the grandparents, see the peppery smelling yellow wild lupins.
I guess my feelings about a nuclear power station on the beach are a bit ambivalent. I liked the clouds today.
nice capture Hazel

Maybe it's the same force at work as "the grass is always greener over the septic tank !"

Like how you captured the moody cloud. It seems appropriate :-)

Not far from where I live we have a nuclear P.S. ( Borselle) too I refuse to take a pic. of it . Love the wonderful clouds above it . So sorry the wonderful memory place is gone

How appropriate to capture that large black cloud above the nuclear power station Nice POV Hazel How sad that this has replaced a place of pleasant childhood memories -- if only we could rule !!

Love the clouds above the station Hazel. The station itself reminds me of something from a sci-fi movie!

you've really captured this well Hazel, I love that threatening cloud hovering over the power station,

Love that sky and a beautiful capture.

Great shot Hazel!! The threatening sky over the power station is very apt!!

Nicely framed and a bit ominous! Maybe the opening for a sci-fi movie (film). :)

Strange location for a power station - on the beach! Looks like something out of a sci fi movie!

How appropriate to get such a foreboding cloud above the nuclear power station.

Such a contrast from your beach scene, looking the opposite direction. Nicely shown, but a little sad that it is where it is.

@linah

I think when it was built there was a lot of disbelief round here that it was actually going to happen.

A big contrast to the lovely beach in your shots and more so in your childhood memories. I don't like either nuclear power plants nor nuclear power

@khirsch

I think everybody found it very scary when this nuclear power station was built. One part of it is now redundant and another part is planned as well as the existing power station. We actually saw a man fishing on the beach - is he really going to eat the fish?!

@quietpurplehaze He may sell it to some of these fancy restaurants where you get huge plates with little on them for loads of money. Freshly caught fish from our local shores
