A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Given I'm addicted to B&W at the moment, I'm voting for this one! I feel this is a softer photo, more realistic! Maybe the colour is too harsh/bright for my eyes??
Made by our daughter,Clare, who works as a silversmith - silver and amethyst, for my birthday. I was lucky to receive a surprise anniversary gift commissioned by Ray from Clare - busy photographing it right now!
@quietpurplehaze -and I was giving him instructions between shots!!! spoken from the heart of a mother. Too funny, I am blessed to still have my mom giving me advise on all things that matter.
That's what I thought only I was going to say that the colour is a bit 'muddy'! I don't like, and hardly ever use, flash, and the plan was to take the photo in daylight but by the time we had got through duck, wine, pudding, the light had gone!!
@quietpurplehaze don't rule out flash hazel. It can work to your advantage, especially when you have people agaiist bright backgrounds (outside) ...the fill in flash will compensate for the overexposure you would otherwise get
I used it once when taking a shot of folk who were against the sunset with their backs to the sea and it worked v well. I think I ought to study the flash on this Sony a6000 to see what it can do. But I'm still learning so much about the camera. (What I mainly learnt at the bird reserve at the weekend was that my 55-200 mm long zoom is not up to that type of bird photography!) I'm always happy to get these bits of advice from you, thank you so much.
Thank you for your generous response to my 'ask' for preferences on our anniversary photo. It came out pretty even: 18 for b&w and 15 for colour - your reasons were interesting. I was a bit worried about Louise & Ken's suggestion of sepia as I thought we should look really ancient but I tried it and it was surprisingly good! Like some of you, I'm still a tad indecisive - I mean we had b&w for the wedding pics but a colour 45th anniversary pic would be nice! If it stops teeming with rain today, I'll ask Neil to take some 'D-Day + 2' shots outside as the light was a bit difficult indoors for the colour.

Here's a pendant she made me http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2014-07-05 and she has a page here https://folksy.com/shops/rosemadder8
Thank you, I certainly will.
Thanks - think we are both looking at our son behind the camera - and I was giving him instructions between shots!!!
You made me smile and I'm glad you still have your mom!
good eye detail and a nice vignette
