Like Barbara whose portrait I posted recently, Ross works as a volunteer at Mottisfont for the National Trust but he is an indoor guide.
We had gone to see 'The Trees' art exhibition and he greeted us as we went into the house. The exhibition was great with some lovely pieces: one which I rather liked had a price tag of £30,000.
As we came out, the entrance foyer was quiet so I asked Ross if I could take his photo. He didn't mind but was perplexed, stupefied even, that I should want to. The room was busy with artefacts, paintings on the walls, and large windows, so Ross suggested using the door as a background. But that was gloss white so we settled for just outside in front of this creeper.
I had to be quick as there were a number of visitors going into the house needing him to be back at his duties. He told me that he's retired and his current passion is his classic car: a 2CV in green. He declined the offer of a copy of his photo.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
What a modest man he must be to wonder as your desire to have his picture and then to decline your offer to send it to him! It's a FABULOUS portrait! Such a nice-looking man as well! I'm sorry he turned it down, but so glad you shared it here with us!
These NT people are very obliging I must say! I laughed when I read your words Hazel...perhaps he thought you fancied him & didn't want to give you his address! Only teasing!
you are cracking on with your series haze, nice to see you slipping the occasional mono too. I am glad you kept his badge in the frame as it helps you tell the story
Pat you are funny!!! Didn't strike me like that I must say!!!
