a German soldier

Most of the dead buried here in Netley Military Cemetery are identified - but not all.

Gosh. Who was he? Who was his mother? Who did he love? How did he die?

@teiko

It's amazing how I am learning about my own surroundings through 365. I've visited Royal Victoria Country Park many times for dogwalking but never saw the military cemetery before. I found it poignant to think that this soldier, young no doubt, may have been too ill to tell anybody who he was.

Very touching. Thankfully, with today's DNA technology, this is no longer an issue.

Always melancholy, all sides suffer in war, lose loved ones - often the war is not of their choosing.

So sad to think no one knows what happened to him on his final resting place

Very sad indeed, I hope all passers, stop to pay respect & say hello.

@pyrrhula

I don't think man learns but just repeats the same patterns of behaviour.
