never mess with a swan by quietpurplehaze

never mess with a swan

For some reason, this sheep (and his friend, just out of shot of the camera) came galloping full speed towards this swan on the opposite bank from us.

They soon beat a hasty retreat - in less than 2 minutes I'd estimate.

the rest of the swan family:

That is amazing! That a swan can be that tough! But I have heard it before and now here it is again! Great catch!

I love this confrontation -- the sheep looks sheepish as if she's apologizing for her bad manners. We used to have swans on our lakes in Columbia but someone decided they were too aggressive and relocated them.

What an excellent capture of attitdes--both defensive and aggressive. Those swans can be formidable especially at his time of year when they have their young to prptect.

I love the swans. I discover if you try to talk with swans (any sound similar to his sound), he stops and try to understand you. :-)
