Get Pushed 438
My get pushed partner challenged me to compose a shot based on your favorite book. The first hump to hurdle was to find the book. I've lived in this house for 2-1/2 years but still have not got boxes put up or furniture where I want it. I tore through several boxes trying to find this book, gnashing teeth and wringing hands at the thought that I might have given it away. But, ah! I found it. How to take a portrait of a cherished book that suffered terribly from the scars of a child dragging it around. (You can see my mother's attempt to bind the book with a piece of cloth and the scribbles on the cover.) Well, this is what I came up with. The book is an "treasury" of children's stories (entire and condensed from books) and poems written by famous authors with illustrations by the likes of Kate Greenway and others. The compilation was done in the attempt to encourage family reading hour.
@jacqbb Thank you for this challenge. It was interesting for me in that I really can't say I have a favorite book. I have ones that I have enjoyed more than others, but I don't keep books once I've read them unless I intend to use them as reference books.
How sweet- I've got some of my childhood books too and couldn't bear to give them away even though I think my grands would have like them! Well done on the challenge!
I am happy that you found your favorite book. I can imagine I would have felt the same way as if I could not find it for fear that it was given away or worse thrown away. Now you can reread some of the dear stories. :)
Ditto what everyone else said. So glad you found it. I can relate to the gripping fear that it might be permanently gone. The shot really tells a story. Well done!
