Yesterday we had a local primary election to winnow the slate of mayoral candidates from 5 to 4 and the laundry list of city council candidates from 16 to 12. While that minimal paring seems silly, I recall that I learned about Mubarak’s resignation on 365 — http://365project.org/swagih/365/2011-02-11 — and Clare and I heard about continuing “unrest” in that part of world on NPR this morning. So it seems fitting to post this image for yesterday in quiet celebration of what we have, often take for granted and what many others in the world can only dream about: an open political process.
