“Dude. Got bugs for me?”

Used the same dock as yesterday for my row today but today’s arrival followed a mowing of the grassy area where I found yesterday’s
• Variegated Fritillary, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2013-06-03 and
• Red Admiral, http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/901982
So today I photographed some wildflowers, damselflies, an Eastern Amberwing (dragonfly) and this male Eastern Pondhawk (Erythemis simplicicollis), of family Libellulidae (skimmers).

Note. Males of this species begin green, but the body changes to blue (while the face remains green). See the green face of this guy, http://bugguide.net/node/view/780963/bgimage

Confirmed at bugguide.net as Erythemis simplicicollis or “Eastern Pondhawk”; http://bugguide.net/node/view/780963/bgimage

He's a pretty blue... Goes nicely with the textures and colors of the stone!

He looks great in that setting. It sounds like you are out getting your exercise again.

Thanks for giving me the name of this dragonfly! We have a ton of these at our community lake. This is a great pov and shot of him!

@tara11 Thanks, Tara!
Males start out with a green body but the body turns blue. (The "face" remains green.) See several images of males and females here, http://bugguide.net/node/view/577

@rhoing Cool! I've never seen the green ones, only blue. Thanks for sharing the link.
