San Francisco!

Early to rise this morning in St. Louis.
7 a.m. scheduled departure. ("TSA Preferred" was a help!)
Layover in Phoenix.
But “at the end of the day,” we were in San Francisco!

Our hotel is on Van Ness Ave. and in the evening Clare & I walked up the hill to the west of Van Ness. Since Van Ness was the firebreak during the 1906 earthquake and fire, the city's Victorians are all west of Van Ness. This photo was taken from the steps of Lafayette Park on Gough Street (2 blocks west of Van Ness).

Methinks that fog and clouds may present some challenges to good exposures this week…

This is Clare's first visit. I was here in 1973; then again for a conference in 2004, but I didn't get around at all. It's going to be a great week with Clare! Our visit is a walking tour of different "neighborhoods" in the city. Tomorrow is the financial district and "POPOs" (Privately-Owned/Publicly-Open spaces).
