Barn quilt [Filler] by rhoing

Barn quilt [Filler]

Spotted in central Kentucky a few days ago. This is only the third I've spotted IRW and only the second I've posted — https://365project.org/rhoing/365/2016-05-09 — so there's still a third to photograph-and-post. (It's along I-70 in Indiana, and Clare won't be happy about my taking a photo along an interstate, but I have to wait for deciduous leaves to drop.)

I first learned about these from Kim — http://365project.org/genealogygenie/365 and her barn quilt month, https://365project.org/genealogygenie/extras-etc/2016-01

Kim is also the source for telling me that this pattern is the Lone Star pattern; thank you, Kim!

@rhoing A great find! Thanks for sharing! My great-grandmother used this pattern for quilts she sold. Her daughter-in-law, my grandmother, was the bookkeeper at a local blouse factory and was able to buy bulk scraps for her to use. My favorite was one she did in pastel colors.

I wonder if this is a real quilt or one of another material to withstand weather.

@janeandcharlie @genealogygenie Check out Kim's post, https://365project.org/genealogygenie/extras-etc/2016-01-01
It was from Kim that I learned about this "rural art"!

@genealogygenie I am always so impressed when you know the pattern names! How about this one?

This barn might be a venue for barn dances? Coke for drinks with your rum? Neat design!

@maggiemae Now that you mention it, this looks rather small to be a "farm barn," so maybe it has a different purpose...

@rhoing The pattern is called Lone Star.

@rhoing You're welcome. Glad I could help and it's nice you've included the link to how the barn quilts started and the trails.
