“American Snout” by rhoing

“American Snout”

Nope; not makin’ up the name.
I don't always take my big camera and long lens to the lake. (A trip to the lake is more about exercise now than photo opps!) But I'm glad I did today because this guy isn't very large: that bolt's Phillips head diameter is about ½", so the butterfly is pretty small. (The mechanism is the oar lock on a rowing shell.)

@janeandcharlie I only ever see them at the lake or around my shells at home. It's as though they home in on the lake water at the house (or they ride home on the shell!). Thanks for the FAV!
