No post yesterday. Today Clare & I took our first long walk since her rotator cuff repair 3+ weeks ago. “Above all, do no harm”? After joint surgery, ya don’t want to fall. So pending clearance from the surgeon and clear, dry pavement, this was the first opportunity. We went through one neighborhood where this giant oak tree was being removed. I can’t begin to speculate how much weight is on that trailer. I did talk to one of the arborists and he had a benchmark for hardwood trees. Please correct me if I have this wrong, but it was something like a 1'-diameter, 24"-long log would weigh 100 pounds. (Maybe the length is 48", but you get the idea; hardwood tree trunks are dense and heavy.)
» Found! For white oak, according to the Log Weight Calculator:
12" diameter; 2' length => 1.5708 ft³ weighing 97.39 pounds.
