No wonder they see me coming [Filler]

The eyes are huge. A Zebra Swallowtail (Eurytides marcellus).

There is nothing else this butterfly could be except Eurytides marcellus, so instead of submitting for identification, I did something I haven’t done before: I posted it directly to the species section at BugGuide.net. I hope I haven’t taken a step down a slippery slope! :)

Quite surprisingly, this is the first record at BugGuide of this species in Illinois after July.

Beautiful shot! I've been having a whole lot of trouble trying to capture these flitting creatures. I may have captured one, but it was on b&w mode. LOL! Just my luck.
