Our old Queenslander...... by robz

Our old Queenslander......

Well - that was a big lie!! Our house on the farm is actually a very big, 4 bedroom, two bathroom corrugated iron shed!! Off the grid - so no power bills, no water bills and nearly no neighbours...
nice editing

Very nice processing. You are off the grid? That is impressive. But you do have internet.

A stunning image and wonderful processing. How do you access internet without electricity?

Lovely old Queenslander

Love this image! The classic Queenslander house would be perfect for me......so long as it came with no wildlife, especially of the 8 legged variety LOL!!! Actually fascinated by @shutterbug49 question. Do you have a generator or oil fired power? Do you have a well? Solar panels?

Oooh ir!

Wonderful capture, the ir makes it extra atmospheric Rob. Off grid sounds wonderful, how did you manage that?

Great shot

A very nice house enclosed in nature and open to it. The IR brings it a fairy look. I am also eager to learn how you manage exactly to live off the grid.

The IR makes this magical. Good for you for living off the grid. How do you get internet?

Please accept my apologies for the late response. It was really intriguing to read all of your comments - what really struck me was that the Aussies amongst you asked no questions about us being "off the grid" while others were quite interested in the concept. So I guess this happens more here than in some other places. When we bought the farm it was already set up with water tanks and pumps, a solar hot water system with a back-up gas heater, solar cells, batteries and an inverter with a back-up generator. We've been there for 7 years now and never had to use the generator - that probably says something about climate change. We were a bit wary when we bought it but it has honestly been very easy. We have no phone landline so just use our mobile data and a hotspot for internet connection - which can be a bit slow at the wrong time of day! After living here it does make me wonder why all new houses can't be set up the same way - it would be such a saving on carbon emissions - but maybe not as good in colder climates without quite so much sunlight! Thanks for your interest and comments. Cheers Rob

@robz That is quite amazing Rob, so lucky that you do not have to rely on any services. We gave solar heating for the geyser and pool. Wish we could get off this nasty grid, it would make life so much more pleasant :-)
