Young and old...

I liked this - but I have no idea why I'm getting the pale blue shaped additions. They don't seem to fit the definitions of bokeh and occur randomly. I do actually quite like them in a lot of cases eg this one. But, if anybody has any suggestions why they occur I would be very pleased to hear them. Cheers Rob
Lovely bw fv!

Beautiful capture.

lovely light on this Rob

I like them too - could they just be tiny specks on your lens? The light is lovely

@tinley23 Ah - they could very easily be specks on my lens!! I'm not very careful about keeping it clean. I didn't realize that could cause something like this. So, I actually just googled "effects of dirt on lens" and a whole lot of info came up. One mentioned "ghosting" - it also sounded like that might be the case in this shot. All fascinating! Thanks for your suggestion!! Cheers Rob

Lovely. Like Lesley I think it is something to do with light on the lens!!

I thought you were shooting infrared! I do quite like this. =)

I too would say dirt on the lens. I love this image though.

Oh I do like this - I don't think it's dirt Rob - IR tends to get sun spots or flares. If not my lens needs cleaning!

It looks like a dandelion head made of ice. Hauntingly beautiful!

@fbailey Oh - thanks so much for the info FB. I don't actually mind them but it would be nice to know how to avoid them if needed. Looking at the images where they have appeared it seems maybe it happens when you're shooting into relatively bright areas of light? Would this sound right to you?
And, I'm pretty sure your lens wouldn't need cleaning! LOL Cheers Rob

@marlboromaam Hi Mags. You're quite right - but I'm still learning how to use it properly - my normal camera is a small Sony underwater camera.... This is lots of fun though! Cheers Rob

I love the tones and light.

A great shot, nicely composed.

@robz Hi Rob, I always seem to get them shooting directly towards the sun. Btw most of my equipment has been gathering dust for months so it does need a good clean!

Great capture.

Great image. Could be lens spots.

Hi Susan, Carole, Lynn and Steve. Thanks for your suggestions re the spots. They could very easily be specks on my lens!! I'm not very careful about keeping it clean. I didn't realize that could cause something like this. So, I actually just googled for info about dirt on a lens and a whole lot of other info came up too. Cool capture.

I believe these are light flares, try using a lens hood or using your hand to shade the lens - I think that the flares can add to the surrealness of an IR image. This is very cool!

Wonderful shot

@joysabin Thanks so much Joy - it's great to know what causes them! I also quite like them most times but then can be annoying other times. Knowing how to stop them will be excellent. Thanks for your reply - much appreciated! Cheers Rob
