I knew I wouldn't have a lot of time today and so I took this shot as I was leaving for work. The polyanthus is one of a few that are growing in tubs outside the front door.
I had overbooked appointments really with clients but after eating part of my lunch in the car, I managed to fit them all in. I went straight from work to Sainsbury's to do my weekly food shop and when I got home and unloaded the car, I found a note from the post lady through the door to say that she had tried to deliver a parcel that needed to be signed for but nobody had been at home. I rushed off to the Post Office to try to get it as I knew that it was a frost stat for our heating system that won't come on unless the water is switched on too! When I got to the Post Office, they couldn't find it and then said that it must be still out in the post van but would be in later. As luck would have it, I had dashed off to the Post Office in my car (I usually walk) but as I was pushed for time, I drove and so in order to turn off the main road, I drove down Ball's Lane where I saw the post ladies and the van and yes, you've guessed it, they had my parcel so I was able to sign and take it home. I'm just waiting for Steve to come back and he will probably fit it tomorrow in daylight as the boiler shed is outside. The frost stat is to ensure that the boiler doesn't freeze if the temperature gets too low and it had filled with water and disintegrated so I'm glad we discovered it early in the season.

It seems like your shot represents a moment of calm in a hectic day. I like that about this project - you can be rushing around in madness all day long, but hopefully still have something calm and beautiful to show for it from a snatched moment.
