I have absolutely no idea what kind of butterfly this is and I haven't done any editing so it really was this bright blue in colour! I saw this down the river yesterday and it didn't want to sit quietly so that I could get a pic with its wings out but it was just so pretty. If I had had my Nikon with me, I might have got a better photo because I wouldn't have had to get so close because the zoom is so good and I might have managed to get a pic with his wings out. Never mind. Hurry up Nikon and get back to me!
Beautiful shot and lovely colours. I'm sure it's a damselfly. (Dragonflies stand with wings out or forward a little, damselflies fold them along their bodies.)
Good shot , it is a Damselfly (Banded Demoiselle) check out my shot on May 27th and June 3rd. Damselflies hold there wings, closed and horizontal along there body when resting, dragon file hold the wing open and out from there body when resting. Have a look at this site http://british-dragonflies.org.uk/content/dragonfly-and-damselfly-identification-help Living not to far from a river I find dragon file ,damselflys intersting to watch.
