Yesterday was the feast of the Birgu parish dedicated to St Lawrence. Tradition has it that at this time the weather is hottest in summer. Because St Lawrence was martyred by being burnt on a grill people used to match the hot weather with his martyrdom. I took this shot last Tuesday when I was walking along the L-Isla Waterfront. Birgu is just across the creek. The flags have been raised by the owners of private houses as part of the festive decorations.
