Abruzzo Day 3 – 18th April.
This is one of the shots I took of the Church of St Francis. It is taken from the portico of the cathedral I showed yesterday. I thought the arch of the portico gave a lovely framing to the shot.
The church of St Francis knows its beginning to 1258 but many alterations have been carried out through the ages. The Chapel of Reconciliation (erected in 1636) holds the Miracle of Lanciano in a reliquary. It is said that around the year 700, a Basilian hieromonk who was celebrating Mass had doubts about the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. When he said the Words of Consecration the priest saw the bread change into living flesh and the wine change into live blood. The Miracle of Lanciano is officially recognized by the Catholic Church as a Eucharistic miracle. If you are interested you can read more about this on Wikipedia.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Great capture and nice framing on this beautiful shot of that beautiful church( I took/drove my wife for Mother day to an exhibition she loves to visit. A 330 km drive and the whole day rain)
