Back to pictures from Malta. The camera wasn’t idle while I was posting shots from my Abruzzo vacation. Now I will have some hard time sorting out the shots I took at home during this period. For sure I will be posting some rough sea pictures – rough seas we have had on some days.
This shot is of a Maltese Luzzu, the Maltese traditional fishing boat. Luzzi (the plural of luzzu) are still widely used to this day for short fishing trips by part-time fishermen. The design has been with us for centuries. This particular luzzu differs from others because of the way it is painted, but the Osiris eye, which is a must on a luzzu, is still there.
Thank you so much for looking and for your wonderful comments and for the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Great shot of a very beautiful bow of an interesting fishing boat. Is it a made of timber boat ? If possible , I love to see the whole ship once. (I was and be always very interested in historical and traditional boats)
… and now I'm all caught up with your shots. Thanks for that lovely holiday at Abruzzo. Lovely to be home though, I bet.
This is a charming image - the care with which the boats are decorated shows how valued these craft are.
Oh yes, the eye painted on a sea-going vessel is a great tradition, isn't it? Quite a wide-spread one too, I believe.
A lovely capture of a beautiful boat.
