Plan for today's walk was to get pictures of the London sky line after seeing a post from the City of London discussing the new buildings that are going to be added over the next few years:
https://news.cityoflondon.gov.uk/city-corporation-releases-new-images-of-future-skyline/ I have taken a number of these photos over the last 10 or so years -- this is about 17 miles out - and the sky line is noticeably changing. The Shard is the faint tower on the left (306m) (2012), the cluster together, from left to right are:
52-54 Lime Street or the Scalpel (190.1m) (2018)
30 St Mary Axe or the Gherkin (180m) (2003)
The Leadenhall Building or Cheesegrater, (225m); (2014)
The Heron Tower (230m) (2011)
Building 42, was the NatWest Tower (183m) (1980)
I think the building on the right is Broadgate Tower (164m) from 2008
The road heading towards these buildings is the M11, and where I crossed it again on my way home when it was almost dark there was the possibility of a shot of the light trails and the buildings of the Isle of Dogs in the background, but I didn't get anything without wobbles (no tripod with me). I did debate, briefly, climbing enough to be able to use the top of the railings as a temporary tripod, but suspected that climbing a motorway bridge would be swiftly followed by the arrival of the emergency services, so thought better of that idea.
Three good things:
Daughter is still full of cold but we found some fruit cake very reduced on her wander today.
My downstairs neighbour has worked out that his Christmas present is a shopping bag that folds into its pocket and is using it as a book bag. Could have done without his usual door bell pressing to tell me, but, some things don't change.
This walk was 7.3 miles and I am noticeably quicker moving
