My Get Pushed partner, @tdaug80 set me the challenge of:
We are get-pushed partners next week. How about trying a shot from a low angle. Here are some tips
One of the tips in the video is to use high buildings to get this effect, but as this is the tallest of the three towers in the town where I live, it's not the option it was when I was working in London. This is the church tower that sometimes appears in my dawn shots. I was hoping to get out for a walk in the fields or forest to play around with tree shots, but that's not happening at the moment.
Three good things:
1. Daughter made a baby top out of remnants today for someone who's had a rough year - it's so dinky - in the red and white striped fabric;
2. Supper's leek, sweetcorn, smoked haddock and spinach chowder mix worked well;
3. I've caught up with the food blogs I've been taking pictures for then not posting (gluten-free and dairy-free)
Thank you for looking and and your amazing comments. I prefer to spend time looking at your pictures rather than thanking you individually below.
I like the subject and the composition. The cloudy skies give this a feeling of foreboding. I think it would have been more dramatic with a smaller aperture so that more of the building and birds are in focus. What do you think?
Excellent pov to accomplish your challenge. I love the stone work on older churches and like others have said the angle on these makes them look somewhat foreboding!
@tdaug80 that's the smallest aperture, f3.3, I can set on this compact camera - which has reduced the amount of the building in focus. I don't find I get much narrowing of the depth of field by changing the aperture using this Panasonic camera compared with previous Sony and Canon cameras. If I wanted more in focus I would have used a wider aperture.
The birds were moving, what you're seeing there is as much movement blur as out of focus - which was clearer before I processed this as heavily as I did. I couldn't avoid a movement blur with the longer shutter speed required in the light I was taking this - it was dusk.
@shannejw I get it. That explains the dark halo around the bird near the top of the building. Overall, it came out quite well. It feels like Vincent Price is going to show up soon.
you made me salivate with your supper. now i have to do another round of grocery shopping to have that. or do you have leftovers? :-D
nice pov, and there's the sense of the mysterious with the combination of the stonework and the gray clouds. what is that 'swoosh' thing on the left? a bird flying past mayhap? aces!
Might check out that link myself!!

(Made me think that Scooby and the gang might be round the corner!) :D
