against the background of fluffy clouds and blue skies, this belfry stands like a sentry.
I've been wanting to take a full shot of this church but i would have to be standing on higher ground, like the rooftop of one of the buildings surrounding this church on the danforth. one day, i would have to do that.
Hi there! 'm your Get Pushed partner for the week so let me jump right in, I would like you to do an awkward shot of a person. (eg. in the middle of eating food, bed head hair etc.) Basically the aim is for the person to NOT look very nice and to have a little giggle out of it :)
As for me, I haven't been all that committed so far as I am new and school is taking up quite a bit of my time and my pictures haven't been all that brilliant but please challenge me all you like :)
@bkbinthecity - don't hold your breath yet, brian. i still need to find someone who would let me in to their rooftop so i can get a good shot of this church. it's a really old one and i think you would love this though as i know you love old structures. thank you, brian.
I like the old missions we have here in CA and this reminds me of them. Technically there are none near me but the kids study them all intensly in 4th grade and build a model so they feel very familiar
oh, lovely shot. there is just something about these towers, isn't there? i see one and feel as though i MUST capture it although many times i resist the urge - although i often then wonder why i did. really like how you composed your shot here.
@visualryu - ryu, i have considered your challenge and i decided that as a matter of principle, i will not do it. my reasoning is that i do not really look around for something to photograph that would bring embarrassment to someone or anyone even if they would not find out about it; i would not want my photograph in such a situation. to me, it is a form of taking advantage of innocent people or of their situation and i do not nor do i want to engage in such things. i know that you do not mean harm by such a challenge and believe me, i quite understand your intention. but i will pass on this challenge. if you still want me to give you a challenge, please let me know and i have a few not-so-complicated ones that i think you might enjoy doing and/or learning with your camera. thank you, ryu.
@pandorasecho - thank you, dixie. i like bell towers especially of churches ever since i was a child. perhaps it's because i read "hunchback of notre dame" as a young child and that's when i started my fascination for them.
@claireuk - come off it, i've seen your photos and they are good. thank you, claire.
@catsmeowb - yes! i find them quite romantic, mind you. and during my travels with partner, we alwasy cover the churches, especially when there's a great belfry like this. this one is near where we live, i see it all the time and i just love it.
