get pushed #70 - single subject - day 1

katie @archaeofrog, my partner this week, pushed me to "try shooting a single subject and to carry it through the week. It could be something as big as an entire scene or as small as an object that reoccurs throughout the week."

soooo....for five days, i will regale you with photographs of this, one of my favourite games: boggle! haven't played this in a long while. methinks the last time i played this was when my nieces and nephews were still in early high school and they (yes, they) were testing my spelling and vocabulary mettle. i usually kicked their little arses but when you challenge your tante who used to be a champion speller in her younger days before the spelling bee came to be you just deserve to get your arse kicked. big. time. of course i was intimidated by their 180+ IQs and they were all bee spellers at their school.

so now, we have:
aft, eat, eft, fat, feat, fey, foot, hat, heat, heft, hefty, hey, noon, not, oft, opt, pea, peat, pont, pony, pot, pye, snoop, snooty, snot, sofa, soft, softy, son, sony, soon, sop, soot, ton, tons, too, top, toy, toon, toons, vat, yea, yeah, yeat.
This must have taken quite a while to get up - unless you are a very fast typist! You are brave to take on this challenge!

Nice. I love this game, although as an editor, I always feel as if everyone expects me to win. I don't usually, although I do pretty well.

I get 'heavy'. I've never played this one, have tried one where you get 9 letters and the central one must be in each word plus you are looking for a word using all the letters. Needless to say I normally failed dismally!

Oh I was goo at Big Boggle too , lady! I wish we could play a round. I still have my game... It is at school but I think I should bring it home before anyone loses a cube. Do they still make this game?

@valpak -i know what you mean, val. my friends never wanted to play with me as they think just because i'm a writer that I know all the words; I just was good at beating the time :-) -thank you, val.

@salza -good eye, sally. I knew I missed something. I don't believe i've seen that game, now i'm curious. thank you, sally.

@espyetta - yes, MB, they still make this game. this one is about 20 years old though but I know I bought one two years ago for the boys. thank you, MB.

Awesome choice! I see a LOT of possibilities here. Pulling myself away to avoid spending a few minutes trying to add to your words!

@archaeofrog -hehehe!

Never played! Is the object to get as many words from the letters within a certain timeframe?
November 19th, 2013
@claireuk - yes, there's a two-minute sand timer that comes with the set. you write down as many words as you can within the two minutes. the catch is that the blocks should be connected to each other horizontally, diagonally or vertically. for example the words stop and spot are not allowed because the sequence of letters aren't connected unlike in heat and softy. i hope i explained it right. thank you, my friend claire.

I loved playing this game too- but not too many people wanted to play with me. Jeepers- just read a few books and you'll have all the vocabulary you need to top me!
