the ghost of Christmas and the shadow by summerfield

the ghost of Christmas and the shadow

another shot from the casa loma outing last saturday night with @northy. these are two shots melded together - one with northy on the right and the other with myself.

another lost opportunity that night was my non-use of the flip screen feature of the canon camera. i'd run to the steps and tried to gauge the timing of the camera how long i should be in the frame to get a better ghostly effect. i would barely hear the release of the shutter and i had to ask northy if the thing's done or what. sometimes i'd still be posing and then northy would yell, "it's done!" tee-hee! and it only occurred to me the last two days that i could have flipped the screen so that i could see it from where i was standing. toink!
@northy - thar we is!

@summerfield home and alive.... that is a good thing. some issues still, but hopefully in time he will be himself, he spent 22 days in the hospital. and ICU psychosis is not a fun thing. my mom cannot leave him alone , so instead of hospital daily, i have been relieving her so she can get out for a bit. my poor camera is wondering what it did wrong to be banished.... thank you for asking.

@cheribug - good to hear and you're such a nice kid to your mom. i'm thinking in your down time you can take macros. then the poor camera won't feel so bad.

Love the mystery you have created, cool processing. I'm learning something from your experience, especially the use of the flip screen when doing long exposures! One cannot always hear the shutter so that would be a perfect way to know the shot is over.

@salza - exactly! and that was the one of the strong selling point and reason why i bought the canon! i should be whipped with a wet noodle, eh! your D5100 has a flip screen? thank you, sally.

Meg
This is fantastic! The processing really lends to the ghostly and eerie feeling.

@summerfield indeed it does. Makes taking low down shots easier as you can use live view with the screen tilted at funny angles!
