they said allison is deficient. she does not talk, she does not hear. when i arrived she was colouring some paper outlines. when she saw me with the camera, she smiled and posed and i had to take a picture. the funny thing? i started talking to her and she started to respond by nodding and smiling. now they thought i had some special talent with deficient children.
she was very inquisitive, wanting to see what pics i was taking from my sister's garden, pointing out to me the insects and the flowers. when she finished colouring she showed me her work.
i think that people in her home just don't have the patience to speak to her or teach her. maybe she has a hearing problem as she sometimes ignores calls to her but also quick to respond even without seeing who calls her. it is sad when someone is labelled 'dumb' as allison is, and i hope my sister would be able to reach out to her in due time, my sister has my mother's patience with kids.
thank you for your kind views and comments; i appreciate them truly.
internet is an ass and facebook sucks. my project is so behind.
so sad....my sister's son is "deficient"....and there's so much to do....she has "lucky" to find a specialized school and to be able to keep him at home....he is progressing at his own rhythm....feeling bad for this little Allison, she seems curious and apparently wants to learn...I hope she will find someone who will take care of her .
She's so cute- you can see in her eyes that she's knows more that's going on than you'd think. She obviously likes the camera. I bet she'd respond to using one too- taking her own pictures. She seems artistic with the way she's holding the crayon and how she's colored the picture. Very cute!
And don't you think too, that photography and pics are just the International Language? When we flew to Ft. Myers to see my hubby's brother and family, we had not seen them for years. and the boys were older. But when they asked me about my iphone and its camera lens, and stuff like that, we all just got into that. The two younger boys would suggest things to take pics of, or how the lens work, etc... ...and bob's your uncle! We were talking and getting on great.
Lovely shot, she has enquiring eyes
