this morning when i woke up, the sky was dark. except for a strip of red across the lake. it was the light the sunrise was giving off and if one is religious, you might want to fall down on your knees and pray. and far towards the west, the downtown core looks like it's also rising with the sun. others take this view for granted. how many times i have told people that they should enjoy even a simple thing as watching a sunrise or a sunset, and they looked at me as though i have grown five heads. we all should enjoy every sunrise and/or sunset, for it may not be there long for us.
A great picture and touching words. Sunrise and sunset, ebb and flow, summer and winter, inhaling and exhaling... It is the rhythms of the universe that are reflected in the big and small. Timeless in the flow of time. It's amazing and wondrously aesthetic. By contrast, much of what appears to be important in the workings of the modern world seems meaningless - like an empty promise.
Waking up with prayer is precious no matter what the weather. Waking up with prayer and watching a beautiful sunrise such as this- priceless. Well said Vikki and a beautiful photo!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
