i modified the image so that the sun is slightly to the centre. i find that i would need to set up my canvas on my table easel so i can do the details like the trees and the flying birds. what i would need to modify in the future is the clouds. clearly clouds are my waterloo in painting, which is unfortunate because i love to do landscapes with dramatic sky and when that sky has a lot of clouds, it would be a problem for me. still, i'm rather happy with the way i blended the sky's colours.
so this is my personal project/challenge for this year's personal 52 weeks -- a painting a week.
thanks to @merrelyn for this inspiration. this was not an easy project. i thought two colours and silhouettes, easy-peasy, non? no! the clouds, of course, i struggled with, and the trees' details consumed a whole afternoon.
The first thing that struck me was how I could see the textures. The painting is a very good likeness for the photo. Well done and onward through the year.
