there was a long wait for the elevators when i came back from the bank today. fortunately there were only 3 of us waiting. the building has 4 elevators servicing 24 floors with a total of 288 units -- the fireman's elevator is out of service; the freight elevator, it being end of the month, is in use by those moving in and out. that leaves only two that are in service, one stops at every floor, even when the buttons are not pressed, and the other either stops one floor above or below where you want to go. if i pressed my floor 22, it would stop at 23, so i would press back down 21 and it would then stop at 22. nobody's figured it out yet, except for the young lady with me on the elevator going up -- she was going to the 17th floor which stopped at 18, so i said let me get off first then you press 16 to go to 17. we were laughing as the elevator stopped at 23 instead of 22, then pressing 21, it went down to 22. i told her to press 16 and it will get you off at 17 for sure.
this i took whilst waiting for the elevator. the right is a mirrored wall which reflects the foyer and the light coming from outside.
Interesting the way the mirror drops off on the right wall. Seems a bit disconcerting that the fireman's elevator is not in service. Especially since you're pretty close to the top of the building. I guess when one lives in a building that tall one tries not to think about that.
That is hysterical, like a game show.........maybe one day it will do what the lift did at the end of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and just take off through the roof and fly above the city.
The building/your photo looks so nice. But that elevator needs to be fixed... however, when they do that there will be only one in service now... hmmm... love reading your narratives.
I think this is a fabulous half-and-half and made a good way for you to spend your time waiting for an elevator. I have to agree with @monikozi ‘s second comment Which seems like a much more sensible solution than hitting the button twice.
only going down. when i press 21 it goes to 21 going up. but press 22 and it goes to 23. there are floors it skips going up. one has to be very observant and would feel when a particular floor is being skipped.
Well, and if you happent to 'accidentally' enter that handsome neighbour's suite on floor 1, well, that's a chance you take. Blame the elevator and hope he's shirtless
Fancy metal work surrounding your foyer. It must be frustrating not knowing if you are going to be delivered to the correct floor or not. I have no idea when I was last in an elevator that had buttons displaying double digits
@summerfield OMG You have to keep all that stray knowledge in your head. Funny—but disturbing. So it will only let you off at the lobby going down...from the basement, the stairs are the only option to get to the lobby? There’s an ADA (or Canadian equivalent) issue. The building owner needs to get that sucker working properly! You shouldn’t have to do higher math to get to the floor you want. I’d be bonkers...
Neat half and half photo BTW.
