continuing with my lighthouse series of paintings, this is the port dover lighthouse at lake eerie in southwestern ontario. i modeled this from two photographs that i took in october 2014, one of which had been posted on this album. see https://365project.org/summerfield/365-still/2015-06-18
i'm quite happy with the blending of the sky but boy! the water is rather difficult to emulate. the most work though was the leaves as i didn't quite know how to go about painting them. so i just used my scrambling brush and scrambled bits here and there and then used a tiny brush to give some semblance of leaves.
someone said it looks like a photograph. indeed, this is a photograph of the painting of my photographs. you know what i mean. i am ambitioning to paint three more lighthouses -- one from australia, one from the states and another from canada. then first chance i get i will buy one of those giant canvases and see if i really have what it takes to be a painter/artist. the store won't deliver so i need to find someone who will drive me. any takers? 😂
WOW!!! Fav FAv FAv! AMazing colors and light in this one. The leaves are awesome, the water and reflection of the lighthouse are spectacular, and the entire composition is fabulous!
