at the confessional

this is one of the confessionals at the St. Paul's Roman Catholic Basilica near downtown toronto where my sister took me last year for the "open doors toronto" event. it was a beautiful structure, so opulent and grand, it was built in 1822.

the confessor who is the priest takes the centre stall and the confessants who are the sinners😅 take the stalls that sandwich the centre stall. if there are more people wishing to make their confessions, they can sit and wait their turn on one of the pews nearby or one may sit on the chair, if they are so inclined.
so clever - love the narrative and the image :)

Great to see your chair helping out

I have a vision of a bickering couple either side of the priest.

looks quite theatrical. I was brought up RC and as a child went to confession fairly regularly in booths quite similar to this - seems like an odd concept now...

The chair looks as if it belongs there in this opulent setting!

@wakelys that’s when you feel sorry for the priest

The wood tones are similar, the chair is simple as befits the setting. Well done Vikki.
