this building, designated a national heritage, is located at the Canadian National Exhibition complex. it was built in 1905 and was home to the exhibitors association and administration. in 1957 it was named the press building and became media headquarters for the events that take place at the exhibition grounds. it has more recently returned to its original function as home to the administrators of the CNE
this building was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by architect G.W. Gouinlock, who went on to design several buildings on the grounds. in 2005 the building celebrated its centennial. the Press Building is designated Early Exhibition Buildings National Historic Site.
too bad there was no snow when i took this pic. right now, the snow has stopped and it's looking beautiful outside. so tempted to go out and take pics, but it's cold like heck out there.
thank you for coming by and commenting. be assured it is much appreciated.
Gorgeous architecture on this and beautiful setting. Yes, the snow would really set it off nicely. I have frozen my fingers every day for the past two weeks shooting pics. It's been so frigid here!
Really grand building, especially with the flags flying outside and adding a flash of colour. Great capture of it and thanks for the info too :) I love learning about the world through pics :)
such wonderful lines and texture and i see what you mean about the bins - they probably aren't worried about looks, only ease of collection. that always bugs me, too, but money always come 1st in these things. no one wants to be the one having to take the extra steps.
@pandorasecho - thank you, dixie. winter's not over yet so maybe there will be a next time.
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. much appreciated.
@bkbinthecity - yay! thank you, brian. much appreciated.
@slang - i knew that would get you out from wherever you are. thank you, sean.
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. what bugs me though are the recycling bins and garbe bins, why they had to put them right there in front is beyond me.
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. much appreciated.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. you are so right about that, my friend.
