partner and i have a new restaurant to go to when we don't feel like cooking, especially on a scorching hot day like today. melanie's bistro is a stone's throw from our apartment building (about a block). they don't have a long menu listing but what they serve are all to die for, from the soup to appetizer to pasta to entree to dessert. today's special is cajun atlantic salmon served with watermelon, arugula and feta salad. this is the third time we've eaten here in a month and everything is just superb!
there are also a number of restaurants and pizza places near our building. if you're looking for a variety of ethnic cuisine, the danforth is the place to be. mainly greek on the western end, there are also a number of japanese, indian, ethiopian, moroccan and the occasional chinese restaurant. there are different churches and mosques, and other variety of shops.
@danig - thanks, mate. 35 degrees celcius and with the humidity it feels like 40 plus, with a strong sunlight, cloudless skies, no wind. scorching like when you see a really handsome goodlooking stud undressing and you start to sweat and your heart beats and you just want to.....oooops, where were we? :-D
@myautofocuslife - yeah, that stud looks delicious! omg, we're talking about the salmon not the stud! hahahaha! whew! thank you, livia!
Just had breakfast and now I'm ready for lunch (after seeing this photo!) Wow ... beautiful photo, girlfriend. Your neighborhood sounds perfect. I love the variety of everything that you have right there! What fun you must have exploring! Love the pov of your photo here ... I'm telling you this could have come right out of a food book/magazine. Perfect.
This looks heavenly! It is really "Scorching" there? We don't rank ourselves down here in Georgia as scorching...we've been in the 70s in the Am, mid 80s in the PM with decent humidity....we call 'scorching" when we hit the nineties and humid! Anyway, this meal...will you come down here and make it for me for dinner? looks great! Oh wait...you ate it at a restaurant. Nevermind.
@catsmeowb - you don't like watermelon? :-) thank you, camille.
@karenann - why don't you hop on a train and come to toronto for a few days? we'll just talk and shoot and eat and shoot and talk say for a week. you'll come back totally rejuvenated albeit a few pounds heavier. :-) thank you, karenann.
@cottoncandy - thank you, mischell. it was very delicious. i think i will have to learn how to make cajun salmon. but i'll wait until the fall. for now melanie's bistro is my best friend.
@espyetta - thank you, MB. why don't you hop on the train, too, with karenann @karenann and you can ask the chef at melanie's bistro for the recipe? then we can shoot him or her, with our cameras. 35 degrees celcius is about 95F and the 40C is 104F. that scorching enough for you? hehe!
oh, you are toooo funny. i like watermelon so much i could eat it until it came out my ears. no, i don't like salmon. feta cheese.- might as well just say CHEESE! do like arugula, though, so i guess i am not completely hopeless. i won't starve.
p.s how hot is scorching?
