A First!
During sunny spells we get a lot of butterflies in the garden but never a huge variety. I've never seen a painted lady before either in the garden or anywhere so I was quite excited to see this one this afternoon. I had to get the book out! These butterflies can't survive the European winter but arrive from North Africa each spring and spread to all parts of Europe. I find it amazing that this little butterfly has come all the way from Africa to our garden.
