Thinking about vintage, I can't help but think of the most vintage of creatures inhabiting our house! At 13, she's beyond the typical 6 - 9 year life span of the breed (Bernese Mountain Dog). So, vintage "Pup" (as we call her) seemed to call for vintage processing!
For those of you who have followed her progress (sort of), she now has her fitted doggy wheels, and today is her first day of practicing using them with just Jim and me (rather than the canine physical therapist -- human who helps canines, not a canine herself, of course). I'd thought about using a photo of the tryout, but suspect my hands will be full and cameras will be banned from the practice.
@laughinglarkphotography Loved your shot -- today was certainly dog day in the best way. @btorrey Thanks Brenda. She's quite amazing for her age and problems, but today she made it clear she thinks these wheels are not for her. We're not giving up yet, though. @vskolnik She really is. Has her nose on my keyboard right now, trying to move my hand onto her head to pet her. @timandelke Thanks Elke...so far, she seems to feel we're punishing her. But we're going to give it a try for another week or two. @sgiesman Thanks Sarah -- as noted above...not great, but..still hope. @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @cjphoto Thanks Chris -- I wanted to do something to capture how classic a look she has. As noted above...she thinks the wheels are ridiculous, I believe, but we are staying hopeful. Will post again as she (I hope) gets more used to them.
@emrob Thanks Mandy -- here's hoping she warms up to them. After three fittings and practice sessions at the PT place, her first time at home with them (outside in a large flat parking lot), was not a success. @ness50 Thanks Vanessa!
What a beautiful face Nutmeg has! Post a photo of Nutmeg in your extra album please. I would love to see what they look like. I hope she adjusts well to this new assistance.
@breigh Thanks Breigh! We were going with seasonings and narrowed it to Cinnamon & Nutmeg. She's enough of a nut that the name choice was the right one. @jaynspain@kazlamont@colie@nicoleterheide@masosy@kwind Thanks Jayn, Kazzy, Colie, Nicole, Kate, and KWind. I appreciate your comment re the processing. @pflaume Thanks Lisa! She's a beautiful dog inside and out. I'll post a photo of her from the recent fitting at the PT place (at the moment, I'm banned from having my camera with her so it won't distract me) and tag you so you can easily find it. It's an amazing contraption. @kimshots@mikegifford Thanks Kim and Mike @danielwsc Ooops...Daniel, I think you're right! Ick! I wasn't thinking of it that way at the time! But actually, I think my memorial shots of her would be more to capture her as she was -- a montage or something. @carolmw Carol, thanks so much for the fav! I'll let Nutmeg know :-)
Now that definitely looks vintage- and so fitting for Nutmeg. Even her name says sepia! So now are these doggy wheels like a walker or a scooter for a human counterpart?
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea Thanks Arefin -- I appreciate your comment and so does Nutmeg! @olivetreeann Thanks Ann -- I thought the ones from today would be more in line with what you were talking about in your earlier comment. Wheels are more like a scooter -- I'm going to post a photo for you and Lisa. @jnadonza Thanks Jnadonza. @vankrey Thanks Michael -- she truly is!
@jankoos@willowdragon Thanks for the good wishes Jan and Al. Another practice session today -- she truly does not like this thing! But, we are going to keep trying for another week or two. Thanks for the positive thoughts for her.
@foxsparrow Thanks Ann...while we're not optimistic, we aren't giving up yet! Nutmeg continued to look at us today like we were torturing her, unfortunately. We got her to move to get treats, but otherwise, she wouldn't budge.
