I was the official photographer today for the Beaver Island Garden Tour (Day 1 -- tomorrow is Day 2) and have hundreds of shots of the flowers and participants, so it was hard to choose one. It was great fun to be able to participate in the event as the photographer -- loved it! But for posting, went with not a flower or a candid but this little guy. It flew in front of me, landed, spent about 20 seconds there, and flew off. I didn't realize til I downloaded that I'd caught the shadow of the wings (it was really bright out at this point in the tour). So, not colorful or a funny/creepy face, but I liked it.
I'm already behind on downloading, finishing, posting, commenting but will catch up later this week after the garden tour obligations end.
Thank you so much for your comments on the glass/sunset/flare shots from yesterday! Some really made me laugh, and I appreciated all the comments about the sun dropping into the wine glass. Tonite's sunset was nonexistent -- rain and fog -- so I'm even happier I was able to take those last night.
Weekly Theme (country and western) shot for today: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-09
And don't forget, think about sun flares this week and consider posting for that challenge (CSC-29): http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/18469/camera-setting-challenge-29-sun-flare, co-hosted by Paul ( @steampowered) and me.
Oh...it is so coll tho catch the shadow when you don't know until you download it! Love it! AND...it is a dragonfly...you must know by now how I feel about that!! Love it Taffy....how cool that you were the offical photographer. I am sure you did a fabulous job. Love your stuff!!!!
Official photographer, wow! Love those shadows of a wings, still can´t really figure out how the shadows look different than the actual wings... I´ve never seen a dragonfly this big, great capture!
Sounds like an assignment I would have enjoyed too! Love the shadows and I think you made the right choice. This is very unique and I also like that it's not the typical dragonfly shot.
@eyesmile Heehee -- loved your comments on the typos even more than the original message. Great sense of humor!! But thank you for your kind comments (I could tell what you meant!)/

Thanks Alia, Denise,Catherine, and Katie! It was more and more amazing to me that I got this shot the more I think about it. Probably had about 10 seconds total to get it before it moved. Talk about luck!!
