Planned to take and post a photo from today, as I've gotten fairly inconsistent in the take/post same day approach (it's that or quit, which I wouldn't want to do). Turned out I had no time to photograph anything except during my commute to and from the college (about 3 blocks, and I've already photographed almost everything in the past year and a half). So, to keep to the plan, here's the photo from the way up to school and in my extras, the one at the end of the day after class - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2014-09-24
Lovely colours and lighting. I'm in awe of people who manage to take and post from the same day all the time. I'd say about half come from the day and generally within a week. My only rule to myself was not to use images pre 365 and apart from twice in an extras album I have stuck with that. Hope you find inspiration I for one would be sad if you quit. And I think there is always something to be found. I dread to think how much of my project has come from my small village and my kids but I still feel I am learning. If anything pushes me to as yesterday's flower shot shows but I do appreciate sometimes it's nice to have new environments to inspire us. Sorry for ramble!
Beautiful green leafy plants! I've been running into difficult days when I can't get out to do photos but it's hard not to post after doing it everyday for more than a year. A constant dilemma that 's for sure.
It's so hard to keep up, and I'm impressed with this shot. It looks so lovely, as all your shots are. I try to only post shots I have taken within a week, but sometimes I have to go further afield to keep up.
Beautiful capture and dof. I started with the same idea but I am always late with transferring and processing my shots. I am still in the process of sorting out my Tuscany shots.
@sangwann@beryl@888rachel@redy4et@newbank Thanks Dione, Beryl, Rachel, Ruth, and Elizabeth -- I appreciate the always encouraging comments and especially the ones about continuing to post without worrying about rules. I started Year 2 with the plan to take one photo walk a week, and then use the photos over the week for processing and posting. Then, even that hasn't actually worked well as some walks produced a lot of great options worthy of work, and some only a few. Then the trips I still haven't finished processing and want to make the photo books before the next one comes up. And as you said Elizabeth -- I'd miss the community too much if I quit. Just feeling a bit torn because of other obligations and trying to figure out how to balance 365 commenting, photographing, and posting which is one of the primary things I really love about my day! Probably will sort itself out once I figure out a logical plan and maybe let go of doing quite as regular commenting/posting when needed. My goal now is to complete year 2 with a photo a day (no matter when taken, but processed on the day). Then, I can sort out the next phase of participation. I suspect this is a natural progression!
@taffy As I have a disability I am not always able to go out on daily bases hence I also take photos whenever I can and use these within perhaps a week by processing and posting daily !! this seems to suit me best !
I really like this composition, and use of dof. I empathise completely over the feeling that you've taken everything worth taking in the immediate neighbourhood already. Last year I did pretty much stick to taking photos each day, but am much more relaxed this year about uploading shots I've taken over the previous couple of weeks. I've also had some gaps: once I'd broken the continuity it didn't seem such a big deal not to post every day if it was difficult to fit iit in. Would really miss your terrific photography if you did feel you needed to give up.
I can imagine its hard to balance commenting you have so many followers. Commenting and participation is a huge part of 365 and I enjoy seeing others work immensely. I do think we don't want to lose sight of what may be one of the reasons we are here. To share our photography. Your images are inspiring in themselves and for themselves. They give delight to people and joy. That I feel is part of thepoin. Imagine how sad it would be for them just to be on a laptop and not shared. Guess trying to say I hope you find the balance for you and that you continue to enjoy all that photography means to you. The images themselves are special as well as you and what you give. That make any sense?
I was pretty strict about taking and posting a shot a day during my first year on 365. I stuck fairly close to it my second year, but years three and four have been all about keeping the enjoyment of it and interacting with the other photographers here. This has been said many times on this site, but I really think it's true: your project; your rules. I for one would truly miss both your pictures and your comments on mine. So I hope you can find the balance you're looking for and find a good solution that doesn't compromise your artistic aesthetic.
I love all the closeup green leaves and flowers above and the repetition in the distance with a blur. You teach a lot to us without us even asking. What we see in life is not always the same as what we post in a photo though that is ok to dare to be creative or change it up. Fall came to us with the gift of rain this morning. Wish it would have lasted and hope it will return soon. Wonderfully done, Taffy.
I want to see this year out without a gap but I don't think I will post every day next year... it's just so much work. Like you I love the friendship and support of 365 so wouldn't want to give it up completely. I do feel bad if I haven't recipricated comments though and I think you must too. Good luck finding a compromise that suits you, let us know when you come up with one.
You have captured a summer feel in this shot, great composition and dof and I like the subtle line of red.
@newbank Thanks Ruth -- it really does help to read what you've said. I love the range of followers and feel quite humbled to have so many. But it means a lot of time spent commenting to be fair to all those who comment on mine. I feel lucky and overwhelmed at the same time.
@vignouse I am guessing there are a lot of folks feeling overwhelmed on the site but fortunately, it does tend to pass by. Hoping that happens soon or I figure out a way to keep it controlled.
