Had a lovely day bicycling around Beaver Island's northwest area, through marshes, the campground, partly on the bicycle trail, past huge lilac bushes in bloom. Then drove back into town tonight for dinner, past a cooperative deer, in time to see the ferry on a glass-like lake coming into the harbor, and home via Barney's Lake. Maybe it was all the color all day, but at the end of the day (literally), this was my favorite image of the day. When I took it, I saw it in my mind as a b&w -- processed with Silver Efex and Lightroom. Better on black than white.
Turtle update: No news so that's good news -- it has not returned to the road as far as I know. Thanks for all your kind comments on the portrait and the story!
Very pretty- I like how the stem fades at the bottom. I am starting to see a lot of shots in b/w even though I take them in color. Perhaps all those lessons of Black and White Februarys are starting to take hold.
@olivetreeann Thanks for noticing the way the stem fades -- that was something I really had liked about it -- the way the grass seemed to grow from the foggy mist.
Good news about the turtle.
