This started as the iPhone image you can see in my overflow album, if curious. It's humble roots were as a blah, mundane, boring staircase -- http://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2016-01-05 -- taken during intermission at the Lyric Opera tonight (Junko and I scored a 3-opera package for unbelievably cheap over the holidays meaning I was willing to go as I'm not so much a fan). Anyway, we saw the world premier of Bel Canto which we were quite happy having paid $33, but would have been very unhappy paying $200! But back to this image...at intermission, we were taking photos of the stairway with our iPhones because, of course, that is what we would do during intermission! Then I showed her the HyperDroste app that @rosiekerr had introduced me to. This is actually a composite of three versions of different sections of the same photo. Then, put together using picmonkey collage and imported to lightroom to get rid of a few stray gold things. I thought it looked like an Incan head dress or costume of some type. Great fun! No idea what to title it!
Check out Junko's of the ceiling here, using the app: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2016-01-06
@jyokota A fun night!! Here's my version after playing just a little longer with the app. I had to combine three as I can't figure out how to make a rectangle when saving.
Interesting. I like Maggiemae's interpretation of what it is. I thought Junko's looked like a piece of fancy chocolate. Haha. What is the app that you used? Looks like fun.
@skstein It's called Hyper Droste - at the app store, or I may have googled it. Can't remember how I found it, but rosiekerr was the one who introduced me to it.
You and Junko are having SO much fun with this app.... I should explore it more, myself. What a cool shot. I have never thought to take my image off my phone and play with it in LR, either. So fun!
I absolutely love this one too, going backwards in my comments. What a cool app. What is it called? Not that I will ever shoot a photo worthy of doing this to it or knowing how. I am so amazed. FAV
Ah, you've answered my iPhone question here, please delete all reference. I love the effect you've created, it's fascinating and somewhat mind-blowing at the same time. I'm not sure whether it reminds me of an Asian dancer's head-dress or the wide-open mouth of some kind of mythical monster. Whatever, it's a fav for me.
Fabulous effect! I'm going to investigate whether there's something similar around that will work with android or on the computer. I'll let you know if I find anything.
@salza I know there are others who would love to find one for Android. You'll be a hero to the group -- and of course, I love to see the addiction spread! It really is fun as moving the 'cursor' just a tad makes for a very different design.

It's free, I think. But it wasn't at the Apple Store if I remember right.
