Still wandering among my 2014-2015 hard drive and came across a series of landscapes I took last January. I was just learning LR then and today, just a year later, I'd have made totally different (and I think better) processing choices. This is one I reworked from the original, instead of the cropped color version that I'd posted -- http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-01-12 -- and like this version so much better, for both layout and for clarity.
While the colour version is lovely, the black and white beats it hands down. So much more dramatic and with much more detail. Love it. Just shows what a difference processing can make.
Thank you for providing the link! So much can be learned through comparisons. I love both images. This one, however, really appeals to me with its stunning contrast of dark and light. Such a pretty picture!
Great the way you have got detail into the snow. I always get a buzz when I can go back to an old image and find new skills enable me to improve what I could achieve at the time of taking.
@stevecameras I haven't used Camera RAW, but am very happy with Lightroom as a way to keep my photographs organized and easy access (keyword system is amazing), and the power for editing to help create a natural look. With your skills, I predict you'll master it quickly and like it a lot.
I thoroughly enjoyed the shots you posted January 2104, and this one's right up to standard IMHO. It is so hard for someone like me to envisage ice and snow at the beach, it's totally beyond my comprehension. Wonderful shot. Fav.
Stunning scene and so NOT like my winter beaches! So great to see your
progress in processing techniques. I get frustrated because I have so much to learn and can't make the tweaks I want to my images which are good, but could be so much better. You motivate me to continue to improve!
I am having a LR coffee morning with a friend tomorrow to see if I should move from CameraRaw to LR. She says I should.
