Taken at intermission at Chicago's Lyric Opera where @jyokota and I met to see Romeo & Juliet. And we learned that they are quite open to photography when the performance is not on. It's a beautiful building and we stayed afterward to photograph until the guards started herding us out the door so they could lock up.
I can't believe I'm already posting b&w when I couldn't wait for the month of b&w to end! I think because I don't feel I have to -- contrariness?
Thank you for putting my St. Louis gazebo onto PP today! Much appreciated.
Beautiful light! How fun that you were able to stay for a while afterward. I love the nostalgic feel created by the black and white. I scrolled up a bit on this image to kind of crop it just above the seats in the front row (eliminating the back row to put the focus on the two well lit seats and steps); and it seemed to intensify the light. Just an idea. :-)
The way the light highlights the two chairs makes the viewer ask questions. The impact would be stronger if the highlights on the stairs were toned down.
@bob65 I'd reduced highlights so much from the original that I hadn't really thought about the remaining ones. I do like this better...what do you think? Thanks as always for the substantive comment!
lovely lighting taffy! and the two seats are perfectly highlighted! i love your comment about thinking the b/w would never end and now you feel free to!
beautiful light and composition... this one is about shape light and texture... and so it "had" to be in black and white whether you wanted it so or not :)
