The two garden snakes were curled up so comfortably in a sunny spot below our deck. When I started snapping, they both sort of looked up as if to say, "we'll leave you alone but you should leave us alone too." I learned from someone on 365 that blue eyes means the snake is about to moult, or shed its skin.
@taffy I didn't even register that there was any issue regarding spelling! I have heard that the eyes change colour due to the fact that the skin releases from around the eyes thus making them appear blue.
@salza It's the teacher in me -- I noticed how you spelled it and couldn't leave the site without fixing. Or maybe it's the Type A in me! I did appreciate it, though.
I think you are very brave! The only time I've ever come across a snake that was moulting was on a hike with my husband. It was quite large and blocking the trail. I stayed WAY back and Jeff gently prodded it was a really long stick so that it would leave the trail. It was very angry!! Snakes are definitely not my thing!
Not sure I would get a photo, would head the other direction. Great shot. I did not know that about snakes that blue eyes mean they are ready to shed their skin.
I've been away from 365 for so long - a combination of no real camera, no time, and no internet. I thought I needed a week at BI to catch up my photo journaling but then -- I saw this -- and I thought, maybe not. Quite a dramatic capture, though!

Great capture of the dual though!
