I, Danbo, am fortunate to have many of my friends here with me. But for those people friends -- mostly Taffy's -- who are not here, Zoom is really fun for hanging out together. Today, she and her Tuesday golf group from Beaver Island had lunch 'together' and just talked and talked and talked. It made me happy to hear them. They said they hoped that they'll are able to play together this summer. That would mean I get to go up there, so I really hope it works out!
I’m so jealous. It’s a crappy time to have the internet even more on the fritz than normal. I so hope you get to go to Beaver Island at some point this Summer
@maggiemae Zoom has different platforms (I have a paid one so it hosts up to 100 but there are free ones that allow up to 40 minutes per conference and maybe 20 people -- can't remember). Zoom had been used at our university for awhile, for collaborating with colleagues around the world as well as for teaching. It's now very widespread and really easy to use. We've had several 'dinners' with friends and it's worked well. You just need a decent Internet connection.
Fun shot, but a little poignant (or maybe that's just the mood I'm in.) We used Zoom a few times to talk with our son and his family and I check in with a grandson every day on FaceTime. Really helps us feel less isolated.
Such a great way to stay connected and not feel as if you are the only person on the planet. Beaver Island will not be going anywhere, you just have to be patient ;-)
Oh what fun! What a lovely way to stay together and catch up on all the gossip! Not used Zoom but have been FaceTimeing family which is nice. I do t know what has happened but I seem to have missed a few of your posts - I’ll try to catch up later. I have a scrabble tournament to go to with my sister- I am thrashing her so far! Lol!
yup! zoom is rather easy to use. we use it for church service on sundays. i like it rather than skype. hope there will be a golfing summer for you. although i'd see no problem there, it's not a contact sport, in fact i used to call it an 'arm's-length sport' and it would be easy to follow the six-feet rule. aces!
@tunia The way I got to the equal views of each person is by clicking 'gallery view.' On my screen it's in the right hand corner -- a thin line, a set of squares, and one other icon, very tiny but you just click the one with all the squares. The view you are seeing is called speaker view and it shows the person who is speaking with the others in smaller square.
@domenicododaro Thanks! Since we are all looking a bit shaggy and gray, I had to promise my friends only to post one that didn't show us clearly! Danbo, of course, always looks so pulled together!
Creative communications going on here. I like your shallow DOF and the darling tilt of Danbo's head, as if he's intently listening to the conversations...or wondering if he can order out for what one of them is eating.
