This is the view of Chicago coming in from the north along Lake Short Drive. To the left is Lake Michigan, to the right are large condos, and straight ahead, dominated by the John Hancock Building is the "Magnificent Mile" of north Michigan Avenue. It's a beautiful scene and hard to photograph as you pretty much have to be on the Drive -- only safe once a year during Bike the Drive. Chicago as situated along the lake is really very special, and the entire coastline is a public park. Photo taken from passenger seat. Main album is album cover challenge: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-02-23
@jsw0109 I realized when I read your comment that I should add that I was in the passenger seat! At 55mph in traffic I wouldn't take photos! I set the camera on automatic per @jyokota 's recommendation (she is very good at these drive by shots!), and took about 5. This was the only one that was steady enough to work with.
Always a pleasure to see these city views and I really like this in b/w too, I haven´t seen that many b/w shots of big cities so it feels unique to me.
@salemslot I used a combination of silver efex to get the contrast I wanted, and then finished it off with Topaz adjust to smooth the sky out just a bit.
Totally awesome drive by! Super cityscape composition, you captured the curve, a peek of the lake and the cars going both ways also! A FAV! Love the processing!
@taffy thank god. AfterAfter ask the times I've driven onon lake shore drive, The thought of snapping pics while driving is terrifying and i shoot and drive all the time lol
What a great shot! Can't believe it's a drive by! I love the Hancock building! What a view it is from up there...especially from the ladies' bathroom (I think it was the Signature Room bathroom?) :-)
Thanks for sharing your city.
It's a fav
