ArtistChallenge2.Trees

The artist challenge this round is honoring David Hilliard - http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/22942/new-artist-challenge-david-hilliard for more information. A characteristic style of his work is three-photo triptychs of a single photo, separated by white borders. This is my second attempt. I think I like it with the brighter colors of the first try, but thought the road made this an interesting possibility. And the theme this week is trees -- lots of them on our road! And my get pushed challenge from @pennyp was shadows.
3rd Submission to challenge: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-07-11

(You can see I like doing these!).
This triptych works for me Taffy, I particularly like the way subtle, but distinct differences in the toning of each individual shot. It all looks so wonderfully cool and inviting.

Sometimes the pictures don't match up. He is very interesting. I've looked a couple of times. Love his pictures of his parents. Gotta try it. "your woods are lovely, dark and deep".

Great work. I like the sense of space and these road surrounded by trees. It fits perfectly with both challenges. Brilliant. :)

I really like this. It would look lovely hanging on the wall

Yes, they are fun to do, and I like this one a lot! One thing I noticed about his triptychs is that he plays with scale, or alters his vantage point slightly. They are not a pano separated by a frame, but rather 3 photos taken from a slightly different angle or vantage point.

Very good. Lovely shot.
July 12th, 2014
I really like how this has come out, especially the centre panel. The vibrancy of the greens is amazing.

@panthora Osia, I've been trying to put into words how his shots work and I think you've done it for me, thanks

Awesonme, the balance between the images here really appeals; not to mention the leading lines through the middle.
July 12th, 2014
Of the single shot triptychs you posted I think this one works the best, will have to look into the work of this artist and maybe try one for myself
July 12th, 2014
This is a great triptych, each piece makes a nice shot in its own right. Plenty of shadows too so it works for three challenges! Well done!
July 12th, 2014
Really nice image.
July 12th, 2014
Love it!
July 12th, 2014
Another very thoughtful triptych...this time you have really nailed the execution of three images which could each be an image in its own right! Well done!
July 12th, 2014
I'm so impressed by this, love how the verge provides continuity. Also love the play of light and shadow
July 12th, 2014
Beautiful
July 12th, 2014
Love these, that green really pops!
July 13th, 2014
I really like the idea of the triptych pictures. This is lovely and a fav.
July 13th, 2014
@888rachel Thanks Rachel. I actually like doing these and am so glad the artist challenge introduced the idea. I haven't yet done one true to his style of three separate photos, but I've learned a lot about composition by revision some of my photos with this framing in mind.
July 13th, 2014
Ooh I love this one with the leading line.
July 13th, 2014
I like that you’ve followed up the blue with a green one… Such different places and moods..
July 14th, 2014
Wonderful composition.
