Spotted on the rocks as we waited for the ferry to pick up some freight we had shipped over (less expensive to send on the boat than take with us on the plane). I thought the big bulge suggests something is being digested while he sort of sleeps or zones out.
Reduced saturation since the green grass stood out more than the snake.
The color of his eye suggests he may be about to shed his skin. That will cause lethargy too. The bulge amidships does look like the frog/rodent population is down by one.
Kathleen is right - he is about to shed - strange that he ate at this time must have been opportunistic as ours go off their food when they are about to shed
Glad to see there are some herpetologists on this site, or I would have thought you had photoshopped those cloudy blue eyes! Great capture of a multi-tasking snake digesting and shedding his skin all at the same time!
What a lot of wonderful things we learn on this site! Your capture with the full tummy is quite excellent! You must have a sizable snake population there that you should have encountered them more than once!
