Given that on November 10th, this is what the house looked like: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-11-10 the progress is clearly massive. But, we agreed to end our lease in our high rise on the 17th, as we should be able to move back in by the 12th of July or so. Visited the construction site today to assess where things stand...seems like a lot is left to do: bathrooms, kitchen, ceiling lights, closets, second paint coat, last floor coat, window treatments, balcony glass railing, stair glass railings, ceiling painted, fireplace hearths and mantles, entryway stone, carpeting on stairs, and all the little things...36 days...mmmm....
Clearly best to just not think about it!

I think you may be alright, we've done a few renovation projects and its amazing how quickly it can all come together in the last few weeks. The main issue after is snagging.
I think they will almost finish and then you will probably have to have them back to really finish!! Thinking of you - I do hope option 1 works out!! It is looking good though Taffy - they had so much to do when you look at the damage caused.
@karlow75 Great comment, Kane! I had to laugh! e.g., bathroom cabinets instead of being a quick swap out means moving plumbing and reinforcing the wall...good example of 'what can possible go wrong,' I guess!
@creampuff Exactly what we've thought. We knew there was a lot to do, but their original estimate was 3 to 4 months. It's going to be minimally double that. Good thing we love what they have provided for us in terms of temporary housing!
@taffy its all the little bits you realise haven't quite been finished right afterwards, you often discover a fair bit after living in the build for a week or so, hopefully your builder should ask for a 'snagging' list and be happy to come back and fix any issues.
@cazla Ah, that's what we call the 'punch list' here. You live in the place and notice things like missing screws, dripped paint, sticky doors, scratches in the floor, etc. Given that we want to go straight up to the island, we're going to talk with them about giving us til early fall when we actually live in the house a bit. We don't want to have to find these things quickly!
What progress...yes i think it wll be finished in a months time. I watch these Renovation shows in Australia and there renovate whole houses in 1 week.
@taffy haha yes. We are in early discussions about building a new house. Se we have all of this building stuff head of us. I'm sure the process will go smoothly and nothing will go wrong. Haha, yeah right!
Wow, it looks beautiful, but there definitely is a lot more to be done!! 36 days....hmmm! Yes, I vote for not thinking about it....I am sure there is a five star hotel where they could put you up if need be!!
